Riverside Country Park is set on the edge of the river Medway estuary between Rainham and Gillingham covering about 100 hectares and forms part of the Saxon Shore Way footpath network .
The walks are there and back over solid wide pathways away from roads and is a popular place for dog walkers. At low tide the mud flats are accessible and at some points along the walk so may be worth having your dog on the lead at these points to avoid getting a very muddy dog.
Medway council have produced a series of leaflets which are available from the visitors centre.
Lower Rainham Road, Gillingham, Kent, ME7 2XH
Head out of the carpark towards the estuary and turn right once you are on the main path.
Follow the path all the way along to the end at Motney Hill. At this point you can either turn round and head back the way you came or turn left along unmade footpath that follows the road upto Motney Hill Nature reserve.
There are benches, signposts and information boards along the route. Please note that if you choose to turn left at the end of the surfaced footpath and head up to Motney Hill there is a lane that runs alongside the footpath which although is quiet does have some traffic.
You can also turn left at the carpark and head out to Horrid Hill or round to Sharps Green and onwards.
Click the walk title in the top right of the above window to open the route on the AllTrails website or the mobile app. You can then create a free account which will then allow you to follow the route as you walk on your mobile. If you would rather not sign up to AllTrails free account and would like to use another mapping app (such as OS Maps, Outdooractive or Komoot etc) on your phone then you can download the GPX file below and import this into your desired app inorder to follow the trail.
Great walk along the coast path which forms part of the Saxon Shore Way. Lots of easy parking, cafe and toilets.
