Introduction
Pegwell Bay Country Park is located on the east Kent coast with views towards Sandwich and Deal in the West and the cliffs of Ramsgate in the East. The park is managed by Kent County council and was reopened as a picnic site back in 1983.
The main path around the country park is fairly flat and push chair and wheel chair friendly. Other paths are grassed and take you through the center of the park. Facilities include a pay and display carpark, childrens play area, picnic spot and cafe for refreshments.
Dogs are welcome but must be onlead in the car park and are not allowed in the childrens play area.

OWTD Walk Verdict
Although this country park is fairly small it has great views and the hard surfaced circular pathway makes it accessible and suitable for all weathers. The boys wouldn’t want to spend the whole day here but for a quick walk its a great choice.
Walk Information
- Two waymarked routes are available. The red route is approx 1.5km and uses both the surfaced and grassed pathways. The Blue route is slightly longer and makes use of the surfaced pathways around the perimeter of the park for the full route.
- Main pathway around the park is wide and hard surfaced. Other pathways are grassed and flat and take you through the center of the park.
- Main circular route is a rough hard surfaced pathway suitable for larger wheeled mobility scooters. (Please see photos below to decide if this is a suitable surface for your needs.)
- Dogs allowed off lead around the park but onlead in the car park area
- Dog bins available
- Large pay and display car park available.
- Public toilets available in the main car park.
- Cafe available next to the main car park.
