Introduction
Lower Leas Coastal Park has been awarded a Green Flag for being one of the best green spaces in the UK. It has something for everyone with large childrens play area, amphitheatre and footpaths that zig zag all around the park.
The Mermaid Cafe is located close to the promenade below the play area and public toilets can be found slightly back up the leas behind the cafe.
Main pay and display car park is available on the shore front off Lower Sandgate Road next to the funicular although there are plenty of other places around the Leas to park.
Dogs are not allowed on Mermaid beach from the Mermaid cafe up to the main coastal car park and the funicular from 1st May to 30th September.
The beach from the Mermaid cafe towards Sandgate is dog friendly all year round.
