Introduction
Hothfield Heathlands offers 200 acres of open heathland and woodland. There are four waymarked trails to explore and a new Triangle Trail which is a 500m all weather accessible trail. Dog friendly but cattle and ponies do graze on the site so please look out for the information boards for further details.

Walk Details
Parking is available in the free car park off Cades Road where you can also access the accessible Triangle Trail. To access the heathland you will need to cross the road and enter the woodland from the pathway opposite the car park entrance or via the kissing gate at the far end of the car park. There are way marked trails but the heathland isnt huge so we chose to just wander and made our own circular walk.

How to use the AllTrails map

If you would rather not sign up to AllTrails free account and would like to use another mapping app (such as OS Maps, Outdooractive or Komoot etc) on your phone then you can download the GPX file below and import this into your desired app inorder to follow the trail.

OWTD Walk Verdict
Great place if your looking for something a bit different. We really enjoyed our walk here and will return. Just take note of signs and information boards regarding ground nesting birds, horses and cattle that will require dogs to be onlead in certain areas.
Walk Information
- Easy - A fairly easy and flatish walk
- We didn't follow a set route but our circular route was around 3.5km
- Allow around an hour to complete a circular route of the Heathland.
- Unsurfaced and uneven woodland pathways with unsurfaced grassed pathways across the heathland. By nature these pathways can become slipery and muddy during the winter and wet weather.
- New Triangle Trail which is a 500m all weather accessible trail and is adjacent to the car park.
- No Stiles but some kissing gates.
- Dogs allowed off lead in the woodland but should be onlead across the open grassland and scrub so not to disturb nesting birds.
- Dog bins available
- Large free car park with 2m height barrier
