Dungeness Beach is a vast shingle beach that is technically classified as a desert as it stretches across a flat and bleak landscape.
Famous for its lighthouse and the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway and also the Nuclear power station.
Dog friendly beach all year round.
Parking available along the roads and at the lighthouse or get the dog friendly light railway for something different.
Dungeness Road, Dungeness, Romney Marsh, Kent TN29 9ND
We were lucky enough to spend a week in Dungeness. We walked along the boardwalk where there is a bench overlooking the sea at the end of the shingle. The nuclear power station is beautiful in its own way. An Old lighthouse that is definitely worth going up to the top. There is a small art gallery next to it too, worth a look round. Romney Hythe & Dymchurch miniature steam railway is cute, our dog loved it on there. The End of the Line Cafe is a lovely friendly cafe for a coffee. Prospect Cottage (Derek Jarman’s house) definitely worth seeing and it is on the way to the Pilot Inn, had a lovely lunch there, warning the burgers are huge! Dungeness is such a special place and everywhere is dog friendly. Our dog loved it here and has never slept for well after all the lovely walks.
