Introduction
Worth Nature Reserve, located near Sandwich in Kent, offers a scenic and accessible setting for dog walking. The reserve features a network of clearly defined footpaths that wind through woodland, open grassland, and around the lakes. The terrain is mostly flat, making it suitable for walkers of all abilities, although paths can become muddy in wet conditions. The reserve supports a wide range of wildlife, so please keep dogs under control whilst walking the trails.
You can easily extend the walk into the surrounding village using nearby public footpaths and quiet country lanes. This area showcases the character of east Kent, with farmland, hedgerows, and traditional village homes. After your walk, the dog-friendly St Crispin Inn provides a welcoming place to stop for refreshments, making it an ideal end point for both walkers and their dogs.

Walk Details
We visited this reserve during a very wet period, so some parts were particularly muddy, and there was even a warning sign on one of the paths. In drier weather, though, this would be a great walk with amazing views across the tranquil reserve. With easy access to so much water that our boys would have loved, we decided to keep them on lead so we didn’t disturb the wildlife or end up with stinky dogs all the way home.
Overall, it’s an easy route to follow and fairly flat. Just visit on a nice sunny day for the best views and less mud.

Walk Information
- Easy - A fairly easy and flatish walk
- The circular walk we did is around 5.7km (approx. 3.5 miles)
- Dependant on pace this walk will take around 1hr to 1.5 hrs
- Mixture of unsurfaced trails, semi surfaced pathways and quiet country lanes
- No Stiles
- Dogs should be under close control around the reserve due to abundant wildlife and ponds.
- Dog bins available in the village
- Limited parking available outside the church or down Jubilee Road opposite the houses
- No public toilets available.
- St. Crispin Inn is dog friendly and very close to where you finish the walk
