Introduction
Ham Street Woods National Nature Reserve has lots of footpaths, bridleways and long distance trails (such as the Saxon shore Way and the Greensands Way) running through the woodland and offers three circular walks. There is also an easy access route but the main woodland pathways are said to be unsuitable for wheelchair access.
Popular with local dog walkers but just be aware that horse do use the bridle ways aswell in the woodland.
Entrance and limited free parking is available at the end of Bourne Lane in Ham Street village.

Walk Details
Ham Street Wood National Nature Reserve is a lovely dog walk with three well sign posted circular walks
Yellow Circular Acorn Walk - Distance: 1 km Time: Approx 30 minutes
Blue Circular Magical Moth Route - Distance: 1.5km to 2km Time: Approx 1 hour
Red Circular The Fungi Trail - Distance: 2.5km Time: Approx 1.5 hours
We did the Blue route had a mixture of muddy footpaths and semi surface pathways with some small up hill sections and apart from the mud we would probably class it as a fairly easy walk but not wheelchair accessible.
Overall a well signposted and well looked after woodland with lots more trails and pathways to explore outside of the way marked routes allowing you to explore deeper into the woodland and create a longer walk.

If you would rather not sign up to AllTrails free account and would like to use another mapping app (such as OS Maps, Outdooractive or Komoot etc) on your phone then you can download the GPX file below and import this into your desired app inorder to follow the trail.

Walk Information
- Moderate - A walk with some hilly sections and some uneven pathways
- Three way marked routes (see details above) and lots of other pathways to create your own route.
- Depends on your chosen route but anything from 30 mins to a good couple of hours if you wished.
- Some muddy pathways and slight inclines along with semi surfaced pathways.
- Although there are some semi surfaced pathways the circular routes would take you along a particularly muddy stretch of pathway. Maybe in the dryer months it would be ok but we cant confirm this Im afraid.
- No Stiles just kissing gates
- Dogs allowed off lead.
- Dog bins available at the entrance
- Small Pay and Display (via RinGo App) car park available at the entrance or on road parking if you dont mind a walking down to the reserve.
- No public toilets available.
- The Dukes Head Pub and The Cosy Kettle cafe in Ham Street Village are both dog friendly.
