Chattenden woods is located near to the small village of Cliffe Woods on the Hoo Peninsula and is within easy access from the surrounding area and close to the M2 motorway.
These woods form a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is an important area of ancient woodland and rare grassland that is home to one of the largest populations of nightingales in the UK. The site is also home to several badger families, several species of bat and many birds including three species of owl.
This circular walk shown below takes you through the woodland paths along bridal paths and across fields. During the winter and wet weather the walk can become particularly muddy so sturdy waterproof boots are recommended.

A leaflet has been produced by ‘The Cliffe Community and Conservation Partnership’ which gives you lots of information and detailed directions for the circular walk and is well worth printing off and taking on the walk.

If you would rather not sign up to AllTrails free account and would like to use another mapping app (such as OS Maps, Outdooractive or Komoot etc) on your phone then you can download the GPX file below and import this into your desired app inorder to follow the trail.
Mostly a fairly flat circular walk but with a fairly steep decent as you enter Berry Court Wood and a steep ascent as you re-enter the woods from the road. Can be very muddy during wet weather but a quiet place to walk the boys off lead.
