The Chennell Park walk is located to the northwest of Tenterden and has lovely views of the Weald and of the town. The route also passes by the the Kent and East Sussex Railway, Railway Museum and the Old Dairy Brewery.

2. At the far end of the High Street, opposite The William Caxton public house, turn right into West Cross Gardens. Opposite Caxton Close, fork left into a private road adjacent to 1 to 4 West Cross Mews. Passing ‘Garden Cottage’, continue on a track to pass through a kissing-gate, then go right, to the corner of the field, keeping a hedge to your right Follow the path to the site of a former stile. Turn half right to a kissing-gate. Take care here, particularly with children – Stop, Look and Listen before crossing the railway track.
3. Cross the railway track and pass through the squeeze gate on the far side. Continue with the hedge to your right.
4. Pass through a kissing gate and go diagonally left, heading for the left-hand side of the trees ahead. Continue, keeping the trees and a pond to your right, to pass through a gate and across to another kissing-gate. Pass through the kissing-gate and maintain direction, keeping the field boundary to your right, to reach a footbridge over a stream. Cross the bridge and go diagonally left to enter Chennell Park, crossing a spur of land to reach a plank bridge, spanning a boggy area. Follow the alignment of this bridge, passing through a group of mature oaks, then with the garden of a house to the left. Leave the park by a kissing-gate to the right of the house and follow the house boundary to a stile in front of Chennell Park Road.
5. From here retrace your steps, keeping close to the house boundary on the right. Pass through a kissing-gate and maintain direction across Chennell Park, passing between a group of mature oaks. Pass over the marshy area by the plank bridge then go diagonally right, crossing a spur of land to reach a footbridge over a stream.
6. Continue up the hill keeping close to the left hand field boundary to the kissinggate in the top left-hand corner of the field. Pass through the kissing gate and keep ahead on a clearly defined track which climbs towards Tenterden Town Station. On entering the station car park, go immediately right. Continue with a ditch and hedge to your right to reach the crossing over the railway track. Cross the track and continue up Station Road to reach the High Street. Go right to return to the Tenterden Gateway.
7. Continue up the hill keeping close to the left hand field boundary to the kissinggate in the top left-hand corner of the field. Pass through the kissing gate and keep ahead on a clearly defined track which climbs towards Tenterden Town Station. On entering the station car park, go immediately right. Continue with a ditch and hedge to your right to reach the crossing over the railway track. Cross the track and continue up Station Road to reach the High Street. Go right to return to the Tenterden Gateway.
