Barming Woods also known as Oaken Wood is a 50 hectares area of ancient woodland that surrounds Hermitage Quarry. A mixture of rough surfaced, surfaced and uneven pathways take you around the woodland and circles the quarry. Alternatively you can head off into the woodland along rough unsurfaced trails.
Parking is available in some small laybys in the lanes surrounding the woods or in North Pole Road in the Residential area.
North Pole Road, Maidstone, Kent
If parking in North Pole Road head up the footpath that runs along side the allotments and into the woodland. From here we took the wide pathway to the left and just follwed this all the way round until you reach the end of the tarmaced road / driveway for the farm. From here drop down the dip and up the other side and turn right up the unsurfaced trail which will take you back to the start. For an accessible route you can just turn round and head back the way you came.
Click the walk title in the top right of the above window to open the route on the AllTrails website or the mobile app. You can then create a free account which will then allow you to follow the route as you walk on your mobile. If you would rather not sign up to AllTrails free account and would like to use another mapping app (such as OS Maps, Outdooractive or Komoot etc) on your phone then you can download the GPX file below and import this into your desired app inorder to follow the trail.
Great walk that can be used all year round with some great views and peace and quiet. Only issue being the limited parking.
