Area Information

Lullingstone Country Park provides a great mixture of river, woodland and grassland that is internationally important for its collection of ancient trees, with over 300 veteran oak, beech, ash, hornbeam and sweet chestnut, some of which are thought to be 800 years old.

It has all the facilities that you require with a picnic area, play area for the kids and refreshments and toilet facilities all located close to the main building next to the carpark.

There is a unisex accessible toilet which can be reached via easy access pathways and does not require a Radar key.

The café sells fresh ground coffee, cold drinks, ice creams, delicious homemade soups, hot meals, snacks and baguettes to takeaway.

There is also a shop which sells local produce, small gifts and wood products that help support the conservation work that goes on at Kent’s Country Parks.

Walk Information

There are many footpaths around the country park which are away from main roads and includes a river, woodland and open fields. Dogs are allowed off lead but the country park does border a golf course so it is advised to keep your dog under control or on lead whilst walking near the fairways.

The Country park has three main routes:

Woodland Walk – A 3.2km circular route taking in breathtaking views of the Darent Valley. The route includes semi-ancient woodland habitats with a variety of trees, flowers and fungi.
Lullingstone Loop – This challenging 6.4km circular route passes Lullingstone Roman Villa and Lullingstone Castle as you take in magnificent views of the Darent Valley.
Discovery Trail – An easy 2.4km route designed for children, this route includes play equipment along the way. It also leads to a bird hide where you can sit and view some of the park’s array of birdlife.

Our Circular Walk Route:

We chose to make our own route and started by making our way down to the river behind the cafe where our dog had a good play and a splash in the water. Continuing along the footpath adjacent to the river we eventually came to Lullingstone Castle. At this point we then turned left and headed across the field opposite the castle and then left again up towards ta small woodland. If you bear right when you reach the woodland you will find a couple of wooden bench where you can sit and admire the view across the golf course. Continue along following the footpath and you will come to a large field where turning left will take you back to the carpark.

Distance: Circular walk is around 3.0km (1.8 Miles)

Time: Approx. an hour dependant on pace.

Terrain: The walk takes you along the side of a river and across fields and woodland. Footpaths are unmade and can therefore become muddy in wet weather and are unsuitable for wheelchairs and push chairs.

Stiles: None.

Dogs on leads?: Dogs allowed off lead.

Dog Bins: Yes.
