Introduction

Leybourne Lakes Country Park was created back in 2004 from disused gravel pits that were flooded and landscaped the new 230 acre country park has become a popular location for walkers, cyclists, anglers and watersports.

A circular walk is available taking you around Ocean lake which is on hard accessible footpaths with grass footpaths also available for those looking for a more adventurous walk.

The new dog friendly cafe was opened back in 2022 and is open every day for refreshments and over looks the watersports lake with indoor and outdoor seating.

 Toilets are available in the cafe and the carpark along with the new chargeable self service dog wash.

General Information

The walk consists of three main areas that are partially fenced and away from main roads.

Distance: Circular walk is around 3.0km (2.0 Miles)

Time:  Approx. 45mins dependant on pace.

Terrain:  The walk takes you around Ocean Lake via hard accessible to all pathways.  Some grass footpaths exist as you go round taking you on a more adventurous route if you wish.  All pathways are fairly flat and easy to walk along.

Accessible:  There are wheelchair accessible footpaths throughout Leybourne lakes. 

Stiles:  None. 

Dogs on leads?:  Dogs allowed off lead in designated areas so look out for the sign posts.  Also the footpath over the far side follows the busy Leybourne Way road and so may be advisable to put your dog on lead along this pathway as there is gaps in the hedgerow that would allow your dog out onto the road.

Dog Bins:  Yes. 

Parking:  Paid parking in the large carpark and can be paid at the machine or online.

Leybourne Lakes is easy to navigate and as such you can just follow the hard surfaced pathways around the whole park and if you wish venture off into the grassed areas to allow your dog to run and enjoy the walk.
