Introduction

Clowes Wood is one of many woods that makes up “Blean Woods”. Covering around 236 hectares this is a great place for a dog walk.  A hard pathway creates an accessible to all circular route and is ideal for those wet and wintery days and a network of single track paths allow you to explore when its not so muddy.  The Crab and Winkle Trail also passes through the woods which links Whitstable to Canterbury if you feel even more adventurous.

OWTD Verdict:  Large woodland with a great accessible pathway for those wet days when you want to try and avoid the mud.  Large network of unsurfaced trails for the more adventerous and a large free car park.  A walk we will definately return to and explore further.

The Walk Details ...

  1. Leave the carpark at the far end and head towards the wide pathways.
  2. We chose to turn left and headed down the pathway leading us away from the road.
  3. Follow this pathway all the way to the end where you will meet the Crab and Winkle way.
  4. Turn right and walk past the pond and picnic area and continue for a while along the Crab and Winkle way.
  5. Eventually you will reach a fork in the path where the Crab and Winkle way head left down hill and our route is off to the right.
  6. Following this path for a while will take you back to your start point and the car park.
