What a beautiful place. You start off in dense woods and then it opens up in front of you to heather and ferns. We came across two horses grazing right in front of us which was lovely, they just ignore you and carry on grazing, it felt a little surreal walking past them. Sadly the Highland Cattle have had to be moved so we didn’t see them today. We also did the smaller triangular walk, a nice walk to do too. We had lunch at the Rose and Crown again before we visited Hothfield as it is not far from where we were staying, really dog friendly pub, would definitely recommend going there and the food is really good too. We had another great day out thanks to OWTD.

Really dense woods, lovely trees and ferns. We went to the Rose & Crown for lunch. Really lovely country pub that does good food, we will go back there again. We went round the loop in the woods from the pub before having lunch. Then drove up to the main Perry Woods car park. We eventually found the Mount, we went left at the car park to begin with, then realised we needed to go back to the car park and cross over the road to the other side of the woods. Realised this when I read your notes again on how to find the Mount lol. A few steep climbs, out of breath but finally found it lol. Bob, our Dacshund is loving all these hikes and coping better than me 😂. We will sleep well tonight lol.

We had a nice walk along the marshes. You can see the bridge into the Isle of Sheppey in the distance. Lovely seeing the boats moored. There is a cute church (St Peter’s Church) tucked away between houses, from the back of it there is a bench overlooking the creek in the distance. Loads of people were filling up their water bottles at the Harty Ferry Well by the marshes with spring water. We stopped off at The Castle Pub and had a well earned late lunch, I can recommend their homemade pie. Another lovely day thanks to Out With The Dog recommendations.

We finally got to Wye Nature Reserve, it has been on my to do list for a while. It was definitely worth the wait, what a beautiful place. We were able to work out the skyline. I love Dungeness and we were able to make her out in the distance, just to the left of the Romney Marsh wind farm. The car park we used was literally across from the top of the Devil’s Kneading Trough. We walked to the viewpoint and took the steps down the hillside. We didn’t find it easy to follow the trail and found ourselves in the Devil’s Kneading Trough before we knew it and then had the huge climb back up the hill. OMG is that a hike 😱😂. I needed a couple of stops before making it back up to the top! But worth it to be able to say we did it. We walked round Wye Village which is quaint and found a lovely Churchyard, St Gregory & St Martin Church. Behind the church was a field full of huge pumpkins. Definitely need to be fit to climb back up out of the Devil’s Kneading Trough, not for the faint hearted lol.

I finally did this walk with a friend, we started at Broadstairs and walked to Pegwell Nature Reserve. Beautiful scenery and mostly flat walk. Would definitely do it again.

An absolutely stunning place to walk your dog.
It does require National Trust membership though for parking so it would be beneficial to have it. Even if you do have NT, you still have to book online during weekends as you need a slot! Otherwise you might get sent to a Sevenoaks parking somewhere which is a nice walk too.

It would be probably wise to keep your dog on leads at all times though due to a high amount of deer roaming around the whole park – and they’re not just 1 pack so you will see deer quite often (even around the parking area).
Cafe is pretty solid too.
There are options to walk on asphalt as well if it is really muddy.

Amazing park – I use it daily.
If you do use it quite often it’s worth getting a membership which is roughly 60 gbp / year for parking.
You can park on the opposite street if close to closing time and still use the park even if it gets dark.
Plenty of spaces for the dogs to run around, big fields and 2 enclosed fields as well if required.

I finally plucked up the courage to drive to Oare Gunpowder Works Country Park today. It is beautiful there and the noise of the birds is great. The ducks came to say hello and made me feel guilty as I had no food for them 😔. Definitely worth the drive, really tranquil and back to nature, so good for the soul. Another bookmark with OWTD ticked off lol. Looking through my bookmarks for our next adventure 🥰

We originally thought that this was a small walk (later realised the country park it was bigger than first thought) but we combined it with a walk along the creek into Faversham. We stopped at the Albion Tavern for lunch (lovely) and then walked back. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk, it was a long walk, glad we stopped for lunch! Thanks for the info

We love Samphire Hoe, such an unusual place and just beautiful. Definitely worth a visit. They also do guided walks every now and then, again worth going on.
